We are actively working on the next version of Abound, and the feature list has not been completed yet, so you can influence what goes into the next release!  What do you want to see?

How can I request features for the next version of Abound?

Please go to our contact form and submit your feature request.  If you see a feature in the list below we have already received, let us know you want that feature, too, so we can know which features are most desired.

Features Requested for Abound 2.0
  • Custom textures for stationary pins based off of images I choose
  • Please port Abound to the Macintosh.
  • Black Holes gain strength as they engulf more and more balls
    • Eventually they can even pull in Stationary Pins!
    • Then the black holes should explode and spew out all the pins and balls into new configurations, and keep doing this.
  • Little kids appear at the top of the screen in moon shoes and throw in the moving balls
  • After Black Holes engulf a certain number of balls they implode
  • Change light source position each time a new screen starts so scene is lighted differently.
  • Have moving light source around moving balls that illuminate the small area they are in.
  • Stationary Pins start to crack and finally crumble to dust after getting hit a certain number of times by the moving balls.
  • Make "disco mode" where the balls flash different colors
    • Add music for disco mode, or let me select my own music.
  • Make color of moving balls configurable so if I want them all the same color I can choose that.
    • Also make color of stationary pins settable within a color range.
  • Make settings all random for every time a new screen configuration is made, so that you never know what will happen (big stationary pins, small moving balls, lots of black holes/no black holes, lots of moving balls/few moving balls, Jupiter gravity/no gravity, etc.)
  • Make "bomb" balls that will hit the stationary balls and explode them upwards and outwards so they fly everywhere.  It would be cool if they looked like diamonds, too.
  • Make it possible to "pop" the balls with the mouse by clicking on them and then you can see how the other balls around them react.
  • Add cannons on the sides of the screen or at the bottom and have them shoot balls out of them.
  • Add waterwheels for the balls, conveyor belts, and pipes, and also license the physics engine or make it available to create your own scenes with it for the screensaver.
  • Add "Pong" style paddles to each side of the screen as an option.
    • Two people could play against each other by using keys on the keyboard and moving the paddles around.
    • Play against the computer by having it move one of the paddles.
    • Craziness ensues with balls flying everywhere.
  • Have certain balls (maybe those of identical colors?) stick together as a larger bouncing mass
  • Create some cool way for all the balls at the bottom to be eliminated (...drain out like a broken gumball machine?)  Or, turn it into a game and when the user clicks on a ball, all contiguous same-colored balls disappear & gravity re-sorts the balls
  • Maybe a stationary pin could have a 'hit count' of sorts, where if enough balls hit it (in a certain amount of time?) it explodes into balls or turns into a black hole or something else cool. :)
  • Have "special" balls that drop periodically and turn stationary pins into black holes (with the gravity strength being based on the size of the pin).
  • Similar special balls that "explode" stationary pins (similar to existing suggestion).
  • Periodically drop in odd shapes (like a football).  Kind of like the way you can set 3D Pipes to sometimes throw in a teapot.
  • A special ball or setting (maybe a keystroke) that rotates the screen 180 degrees, throwing all the balls back in motion.
  • I want to see some juggling patterns!  Have the balls be in complex juggling patterns like 7 ball cascade, etc.
  • How about adding different sized moving balls?  Or perhaps something that looks like Plinko from Price is Right.  Instead of black holes.. how about something that drives balls away?
Submit your request today and it may be included in the next version!
